Nala Maldives by Jawakara

Seen from above, Nala Maldives appears as a pale brushstroke across the shifting blues of Lhaviyani Atoll. Part of the Maldivian-owned Jawakara Islands, the resort was conceived with a different starting point: not simply as a place to stay, but as a place shaped by the waters and ecosystems that surround it.

Just offshore, the Sea Turtle Health Institute — operated in partnership with the Olive Ridley Project — functions as a working marine hospital, treating and rehabilitating injured turtles before returning them to the wild. This visible, ongoing work grounds the guest experience in something tangible, positioning Nala as a resort defined as much by stewardship as by design.

Spotlight PR Client: Nala Maldives

we relate

Introducing a resort shaped by its environment.

Spotlight Communications was engaged at launch to support Nala Maldives as it entered the international luxury travel market. Working closely with ownership and leadership, the focus has been on articulating what distinguishes the resort within a mature and often homogenised destination.

Central to this is ensuring Nala is understood not as an abstract private island, but as a property intrinsically connected to its marine environment and ecological context.

we create

Editorial narratives rooted in place and purpose.

Editorial strategy centres on Nala’s relationship with the surrounding ecosystem, positioning the Sea Turtle Health Institute and wider marine environment as foundational to the resort’s identity. Storylines highlight the intersection of contemporary hospitality and active conservation, ensuring coverage reflects both the guest experience and the environmental reality that shapes it.

This approach moves beyond familiar Maldives tropes, presenting Nala as part of a broader shift toward more grounded, responsible luxury travel.

we connect

Aligning Nala with editors shaping the future of luxury travel.

Relationships with journalists working across travel, environment and long-form features ensure Nala is understood within the wider ecological reality of the Maldives. Coverage centres on writers drawn to substance, access and environmental context, rather than surface-level destination reporting.

This careful alignment positions Nala as part of a more informed narrative about the future of island hospitality.

we amplify

Building authority through sustained, purposeful visibility.

Early visibility is shaped deliberately, ensuring each story reinforces the resort’s connection to its marine environment and its role within the Jawakara Islands vision. Rather than relying on volume, momentum builds through thoughtful placements that deepen understanding over time. The result is sustained recognition that reflects the resort’s true character and establishes its place within the evolving luxury landscape.
